Soft baits Shaker 15 cm
The larger size of Shaker soft bait needs further discussion. The first thing that comes to a mind after removal from the pack is how this Shaker is to be rigged. Given its size, and hence the selectivity, the main predators that can be caught on this Shaker, are big pikes and zanders. While many attacks of large predators end up attacking the lure head, with this length of the lure we need to think about the additional rigging. Classic jig heads on hooks 12/0 will be enough while fishing in relatively shallow fisheries where the use of an additional hook may hamper the fishing. Especially when it comes to overgrown parts of rivers and lakes. Out of curiosity, I decided to use this set in a place where I expected to trigger many pike strikes. The soft bait featured a weighted head of 7 g and could be easily led at the depth of 2 m in a medium current. So light rigging made the bait worked slowly, subtly flickering from side to side, and a large tail fin stabilized its work and kept evenly over the bottom, even in the place where the stream definitely changed...

The soft bait featured a weighted head of 7 g and could be easily led at the depth of 2 m in a medium current. So light rigging made the bait worked slowly, subtly flickering from side to side, and a large tail fin stabilized its work and kept evenly over the bottom, even in the place where the stream definitely changed its direction. It was not long before I could see the results. It was a 5 kg zander that gently attacked a slow moving bait. This indeed is the common denominator of large and slowly lead soft baits. Predators attack them strongly, but without a typical for smaller baits aggression. There are many assist hooks with one or two treble hooks available in the market. Most of them features a steel leader or fluocarbon. There are also versions with the lead head or cone, which are rigged at the front of the bait. It would be a good solution when using Shaker in deeper fisheries. The bait is available in a range of colors. There are standard, natural colors enriched with glitter and also vivid ones. It is of great importance since pikes are into one type of food especially in late autumn. Choosing wrong color, even in a stocked fisheries, often leads to frustration resulting from not catching any fish. It is impossible not to mention the incredibly strong soft bait. Even the pulling out of several pikes does not destroy this bait. What is worth mentioning is the way of coloring the bait, thanks to which one color does not take on a color of the other. A lot of spinning anglers give up using a 15 cm bait as they consider it too big. Many anglers know, and if you don’t, then believe, that the lure of this size is not too big, even for half a meter fish. The number one food of a zander is a bream and when you take into consideration zander’s size and repeatedly described its narrow esophagus, it is hard to believe it. This show it is though and a 2 kg fish can easily attack a 15 cm bait. And sometimes, predators don’t fall for something smaller.*
